FLOWER PARADE AND TULIP ROUTE
Still haven't gotten enough of all the beautiful tulip fields at Tulip Festival and Keukenhof Castle? Then there are even more fun activities to enjoy in the area around the Flower Region.
Flower parade
Van der Valk Hotel Sassenheim - Leiden, Hotel Noordwijk and Hotel Schiphol have been participants in the flower parade in the flower region for many years. The Van der Valk float has a new theme every year and is a real eye-catcher. In addition to the Van der Valk float, there are twenty other floats and thirty special floats on display. All beautifully decorated with flowers. From Van der Valk Hotel Delft it is definitely worth watching this. The flower parade is constructed with bulbous flowers such as hyacinths, tulips and daffodils. The highlight is parade Saturday, when the floats make trips of 42 km. The parade Saturday often takes place in April and runs from Noordwijk to Haarlem. Through the cheerful music, the flower parade is an experience that stimulates the senses. So you can enjoy all the flowers from the tulip fields.
Tulip Route
After your visit to the Keukenhof, complete your experience with a wonderful walking and biking tour along the tulip trail. Dutch people don't get it! There are two main tulip routes to follow in the vicinity of our hotel. The well-known tulip route at the Bollenstreek near Lisse in North Holland and picturesque route on Goeree-overflakkee in South Holland.
Tulip route North Holland
The Bulb Region near Lisse is best known for the Keukenhof, but you can also venture into the bulb region yourself. The tulip route near Lisse stretches over 62 kilometers and is generally better known among tourists. Imagine yourself among the colorful tulip fields, picturesque villages and coastal towns such as Katwijk and Noordwijk. The entire route takes about 3 hours by car. Should you go cycling, you can count on a whole day trip. You can hike beautifully and there are plenty of photo stops!
Tulip route South Holland
In addition to the tulip route in North Holland, you'll find plenty of tulips in South Holland. The route you can follow here is a whopping 111 kilometers. Goeree-Overflakkee is home to an awful lot of tulip farmers, which you can enjoy as well. It is a much less famous area of the famous Bulb Region and because of this you will meet far fewer tourists every day. The farmers in this area have opened up their land so you can get close to the tulip fields. Want to take home a bunch of tulips from the tulip fields?
